Gareth is an experienced Forensic Collision Investigator and Vehicle Examiner with an exemplary record, who has a demonstrated history of working in the law enforcement industry. Specialising in the investigation of fatal and serious injury road traffic accidents, he was formerly responsible for a team of Collision Investigators within South Wales Police, overseeing the quality of the work produced, including validating technical reports and mentoring individuals.

Gareth is skilled in scene management, evidence retrieval and preservation, authoring technical reports, court presentation, emergency management, law enforcement, close protection, and personal security, having assisted in armed protection of the Royal Family and Government officials. Professional, robust and personable with excellent communication skills, Gareth is highly motivated.

Gareth was a serving Police Officer from 1988. In 1996, he transferred to South Wales Police Traffic Department. From 1996-2007 he was engaged in armed response and traffic patrol duties. In the course of these duties he gained a wide experience of all types of Road Traffic Collisions. He joined the Forensic Collision Investigation Unit in Cardiff in 2007, retiring in 2018. The last four years of his service were spent as Senior Forensic Collision Investigator.

Gareth has been the holder of a full driving licence for motorcars since 1983 and motorcycles since 1992, with advanced class one police driving grades for cars and motorcycles.

Gareth is authorised to drive vehicles in category ‘D’ (PCV) and ‘C’ (LGV), and has undergone training in the driving of 4×4 vehicles and motorcycles off road. He has been licensed by the Driving Standards Agency as a motorcycle instructor; authorised to train and assess motorcyclists for the Certificate of Basic Training.

Gareth has passed examinations with the City and Guilds of London Institute in Accident Investigation and Reconstruction, standard and advanced. He is a full member of the Institute of Traffic Accident Investigators, a professional member of the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences, a professional member of the Institute of the Motor Industry and a professional member of the Association of Industrial Road Safety Officers. He has attained a Certificate in Higher Education with distinction in Collision Investigation.

Having attended hundreds of collision scenes, Gareth has authored and advised upon hundreds of technical reports, receiving commendations from Crown Court Judges, Coroners, Barristers and Lawyers for his exceptional quality of work and presentation of evidence.

Having been recommended to Wayman’s by another expert in the field, Gareth has enjoyed the challenge of the variety of the work and travelling around the country during investigations.

Gareth has four children, two of whom are still at home, and three grand-children. His hobbies are photography, hiking, music, reading and following his youngest (twins) rugby team.
